The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.

But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually pushed up the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
